Birthday Festival

Here are a few shots of my day.  Michael conveniently has his birthday the day after mine but we failed to take any shots of that eventless occasion!  This year, more than ever before, have felt the immense weight of privilege on my life.  I am blessed to the point of embarrasment....with more blessing kicking from the inside EVERY moment of the day and night.  I'm so grateful.  So grateful.

My pink present from Jem being put to use ASAP - complete with bed hair!

Gorgeous!

Two mummas!

Sad and happy times - our family missing Cam and Ash...who is overseas at the moment.

However a nice profile shot of "that Brucey lump" (as Angus calls it).  In the early days of being pregnant, AB decided we should call the baby Brucey The Shark so he can say "Allo, tasty morsels" (he's watched Finding Nemo a few times!).

The hot pink jacket was a near-purchase in Melbourne recently but put back on the rack because the queue was too long at the registers.  One sneaky sister went back and bought it under the instruction of one sneaky husband.

This was my favourite birthday moment....both kids singing with gusto and very excitedly presenting me with a cake they'd decorated with "pine snakes" (aka pythons).

Happy Birthday Darling

Well its time for my annual blog post which coincides with Rachel's birthday.

At first it was going to be entitled Happy Birthday Mummy but then I thought, hang on a second, she was a wife first and there have already been plenty of opportunities for "Happy Birthday Mummy"  today, along with cake decorating, a present treasure hunt, a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday" and brunch at a cafe with family.

It has been my pleasure to share another year of your life Rach. Despite all that the year that has passed has been you continue to amaze and inpire me in the way you juggle being a great mum, daughter, sister and wife and invest so much into the people around you, much whilst I am burning the midnight oil at work.

Rach doesn't like the term "supermum" because she thinks it is a made up concept which serves no purpose other than to put people under pressure but to me she is more than a supermum - she is a super wife as well and days like today are a great reminder of how much I (we) love her and the sense of gratitude which I (we) have daily both to her and God for all that she is to me (us).

Happy Birthday Darling.

Love Mike

PS We will post a few photos later.

New Era

For the next 9 weeks the Barr family are completely nappy free and the two kids are moving in together.  It's time for a big bed and a new doona to enable the transition.

A Day At The Beach

It was AB's idea to go to the beach today.  It was all because he found that green, sand rake and he wanted to use it at the beach.  That's him happy and sort'd.  Jem was just happy to be seen in public.  It was quite wintery and a bit wet but nice to hang out for a few hours and find rain respite in the cafe across the road.  Everyone's a winner, baby!

Helicopter overhead.  Jem wondering if they were looking for her.

Cake Day...again

Only 8 days into May and novelty of cake is rapidly becoming weary.  Can you believe it?  Angus turned 4 today and, once again, proved to me he is fabulous and lovely.

We started with a pre-dawn present treasure hunt involving a map and a bunch of clues for numerous, small gifts.  He is a repeat offender for becoming inseperable with the $2.39 Woolworths present choice rather than another more considered, expensive item.  After the treasure hunt was complete he ate a bowl of birthday Nutrigrain and the world was all ok for him.

The rest of the day was a whirlwind of phonecalls, skype, Scitech, chips, cake, apples (which he eats like cake), dinosaur roars, lego and more presents.   Happy Birthday gorgeous boy.  Our love for you is deep and wide.

Party Day

Only 2 more sleeps to go until AB's 4th birthday however, because Tuesday is a work day for Daddy, we had a preliminary celebration a bit early.  Angus was delightfully responsive to the attention on him.

"Oh!  Goodness Me!  This is a present for me!"
The hoody was (apparently) integral to the proceedings and the green theme.

Cutting the cake.
