Christmas Eve

This year has been another of great provision in our lives. Not only are we besotted with our little “mouse” but Rachel has nearly finished incubating another…due mid-February. Due to the GFC Michael was invited to move the Leighton office back to Sydney but was simultaneously, and incredibly, offered another job in Perth. Around the same time Cam’s health took more setbacks which confirmed that this is still the best place for us to live. Subsequently we sold our Sydney digs and are furiously house-hunting in WA. Cam is living with us for the time being and we are being well cared for by friends from church, mums group, playgroups and of course family.

Nana and Grandy took The Mouse out for an eve babycino.

This is the first time in my life I've put up a tree - it's the nesting thing going crazy. Had plans to make Christmas stockings for everyone but in the end ran out of steam and just got AB's finished. We filled it a life-sized baby doll which he immediately started patting and cuddling. Later on in the day he strapped her into the stroller and took her for a walk. I think he'll do ok with a sibling in 6 weeks.

The Dinner

We put the kids to bed which made it easy to enjoy dinner together. Yumbo.

Christmas Day

We scoffed some of Cam's coconut, banana pancakes for breakfast and then tried to teach The Mouse to open presents. He didn't really get the hang of it but he seems to love everything in the end...drums (from Grandies), easel, guitar (from Uncle Cam), Magna Doodle, cd's and lots of little bits and pieces. We had relied on hand-me-down toys and borrowing from friends until this day so new stuff is a novelty. It'll get him through 2010 at least!

After the whole household had nana naps we headed for the beach for a bit of a splash. Michael had his eyes lasered 2 days before so wasn't allowed to get wet. Poor bugga. Good results from the surgery with 20/20 vision on Day 1 after the procedure with better results to come. He loves being sighted now after 20 years of -6.0 prescription contacts/glasses. Yippee.

37 Degrees

It's 37C outside and so The Mouse and I are baking banana bread...of course. Blame it on my nesting phase. Now I also have to put the air con on because the oven is big enough to warm the house. The cricket is on in the background and The Mouse is yelling out "Ball" every time he hears a big hit. It seems as though we're breeding a Stuie Macgill - a cricket foodie!
