Really and truly....
...this blog will come back to life any day now. There have been a few hiccups in our world of late, the least of which was our computer crashing and us losing all our digital worldly possessions. Yes, yes, I did have them backed up on the external hard drive....but this got hit by lightning on a separate sad occasion. So the new computer is on order and blogging will begin again.
The rollercoaster of the last few months has seemed to come in for a landing and we are going ok. Cam's diagnosis was initially a shattering event at at every point since then was downgraded. We keep forgetting he still has cancer because the recent news has been relatively good. The update is at www.thewalkbeside.com Through it all I have loved, not only him, but the way in which he has processed the devestating news. It affirms our kinship and helps me say 'yes' in agreement to his perspective. Especially the post titled "It's so unfair". That's my bruver. Libs has gone through the deepest waters with him and...what a girl!
On the home front....we are loving our place. We have almost entirely eradicated TV from our week with the obvious exception of an AFL game featuring red and white uniforms. On Saturday night just gone we celebrate our sister-in-laws 30th at our place with a 10 course degustation dinner. We've done a few of these before where we eat ourselves silly on 10 small but delicious portions. There is a different theme of conversation for each course and everyone contributes. A few customers from the cafe heard about it through our conversations and, the long and short of it is, we are starting regularly Cafe Degustation Dinners at our place every 6 weeks or so. It will be a chance for regular customers to get to know eachother better and talk more about deeper things in life. On the weeks inbetween we are planning to have a community meal that is open to anyone who wants a feed and a chat. There's a few who've already put their hand up for this.
In connection to this I'm starting a food co-op with a few neighbours in our street and beyond. I'll be denying myself a sleep in on Saturday mornings in lieu of a trip to the food markets. I'm trying to topple the monolithic rip off merchants known as W**lworths. I'm am SICK of paying too much money for vege's that are more appropriately for compost than consumption. Anyway, my neighbours think it's fantastic and I'm really keen (she says at 6:12pm on a weekday...wait for 6am Saturday morning).
If this post gets any longer you'll give up reading it so I'm over and out. We are still here and looking forward to our lives being a little bit more connected with technology in the next week or so.
