Is that a selling point?

Just walked by a barber shop in the city advertising $8 hair cuts. Nothing unusual about that in any dingy lane of any capital city however, it was his blackboard sign that caught my eye: Specialising in 'short back and sides'.

I think that's funny. You can't get anything less special in a haircut than short back and sides.

What might not be that funny is if the Swans go down to the Saints tonight. Either way, I'll celebrate with Michael or Gaz. We are off to Mark and Melody's place for dinner and some fanatical cheering.

Go the Swannies.

The last moments of Friday's game called by Rex Hunt

The following is a link to the last 2 minutes of Rex Hunt's call on the Swans v Geelong game on Sydney Morning Herald website. For their own wellbeing any persons living in Bussleton should disregard this particular posting.

Sorry Marcus

Marcus,

The photo below is not specifically directed at you but I did feel the need to share the Swans victory last night with the world.

Let me say that to some degree we felt a bit sorry for the Cats particularly after we experienced a similarly narrow loss in controversial circumstances last week.

Rachel wants me to especially mention that she doesn't think that Sydney deserved to win given the way we played for 3 and a half quarters last night. There is no doubt the victory was stolen from you in the cruelest way. The photo below confirms her feelings.

Anyway we will probably be in a similar position by this time next week but we will live in hope until then.

Celebrations at the footy last night Posted by Picasa

Birthday/Fathers Day celebrations with the Harris clan. Posted by Picasa

Saturday night we caught up with Rachels friends including Fliss and Sully shown here. The cake is their creation and symbollically represents what Fliss hopes to be wearing next year. Michael also was pleased to meet Jamie, John's fiancee from America. She is charming and seems a good match for John. Geoff was also there in all his Morroccan glory - wearing a genuine djalaba. Posted by Picasa

Happy Birthday John

Last weeknd we jetted over to Perth for 5 days specifically to wish John (Rachel's dad) Happy Birthday and Happy Fathers Day. Below are a few of the things we did while we were over there as well as filling you in on a few events that have happened whilst our computer has been being fixed.

We caught up with Asher and Jaye who have just announced their engagement and are to be married next year. Congratulations you guys! After that we went to watch Sydney do battle with WestCoast as two of the 500 Sydney supporters in a crowd of 43000. Needless to say that we graciously accepted the 4 point loss that evening and lost to the better team on the night (even though that team had a couple of extra helpers - a view even confirmed by the notoriously biased WA press the next day). No need for photos of a grown man crying! Posted by Picasa

Whilst in Perth we also had breaky with Rachel's old boss Susie and worked through issues associated with one Lois Vuitton handbag. You know you deserve it Susie!! Posted by Picasa

Rach and a few of the beauties (Jodi and Ainslie) from Perth Modern School where Rach used to work. We dropped in to see them for morning tea on the Friday. Posted by Picasa

We spent a day up at York about 1 1/4 hours from Perth where John and Rose have 400 acres. John has basically built everything himself including a huge shed (half finished) just out of this picture. It undoubtedly his unwinding space and a great place to relax. To the right you can get an idea of the views from the lounge room. Posted by Picasa

Rachel having a crack at using the chainsaw under Dad's watchful eye. Again no compromise with OH&S rules here! Posted by Picasa

The Harris siblings plus Libs posing for their new album cover. One of the family is volunteer member of the bushfire brigade! Posted by Picasa

It wasn't all hard work in Mudgee Posted by Picasa

Whilst technically this photo does not prove that Rachel has in fact done exercise -she has! In fact on a recent weekend away we both cycled the roads of Mudgee (NSW) and visited a few of the wineries along the way. I am not trying to infer anything about the link between exercise and alcohol. Posted by Picasa

This is our niece Maya. She is the first Barr girl born for about 60 years and she has just turned 1. Posted by Picasa

Lost in Space

We've been a bit scarce around these parts - mainly because our home computer died and we are waiting for it to be resurrected by the gurus in the IT dept. They might be gurus but they ain't fast.

Nice time in Perth over the weekend - Food, Football, and Family dominated. Fotos to come.

Can hardly sit upright this morning. We flew in at 11pm and taxi'd to the city where our car was. The car battery was flat so we waited until 1am for someone to come 4 floors undergound and give us 'new life'. Once the car started we realised we had no fuel so we drove to the nearest station and paid $1.40 a litre, gave the new Cross City Tunnel a go and was home by 1.30am. The alarm went off at 5:45am and the day was not happy until after 2 coffees.

Still trying to catch up even though we slept through the alarm this morning and helped Michael miss half a meeting that was scheduled for 7am. Whoops.

Oh! and did I mention we purchased tickets to the Swans v Geelong showdown on Friday night?
