Exmouth - Flood

On day 5 (of 9) it rained.  It REALLY rained.  Like we've not had rain before.  By 10am the road around town were flooded and caravans and campers were already stranded.  It rained some more - 230mm in 24 hours actually.  Not really what we had come prepared for but adventurous none the less.

By the next morning it was all sunshine.  The water had already subsided but there was still so much water!
We tried to visit Turquoise Bay and had to do some brave driving through metre-deep flooding.
Lots of damage

Hard to see but this 'river bed' (it wasn't even a river before the rain) was about 100metres wide.  The amount of water that must've been cascading through at the peak of the rain would have been phenomenal.
This was the point we had to abort all brave driving and turn around.  The road was completely gone and the rescue truck got bogged in front of us.  Ooooh, exciting!

So, once you close down 'beach entertainment options' in Exmouth there is not much more to do.  The beaches we no longer appealing.  We visited Pebble Beach...named for obvious reasons which became an added novelty to the red water.
