Veges

This is my new thing - a vege co-op with us and 5 of our neighbours. Every 2nd Saturday morning we go to the market early and shop for 6 families. We get home and divide it all up into baskets of $20 or $30 dollars worth. It's brill. Everyone comes down to our place later in the morning to pickup and pay. It's been fantastic to have good veges at such a good price and chat to our neighbours regularly. They LOVE it.

This is our life

Well, we've been very quiet on this blog due to our life being the opposite. I've gone crazy on the photo uploads this morning to give a brief update on the last few months. There's been a fair share of tears over Cam's cancer and how that is impacting their world. The whole process made so much easier by Cam and Libs tenacity and peace. If you haven't already you should read his blog at http://www.thewalkbeside.com/ People often say to me "It must be hard being so far away" but most of the time it's ok. I'm so loved and supported here by so many people including good friends and family in the West. The hardest thing is you have to make judgements about when the 'best' time is to go and visit....rather than just go. I also feel terrible that Cam, Libs, Carms, or whoever has to deliver me difficult news over the phone. It shouldn't have to be like that...they have enough to think deal with let alone being considerate of me. I think I'm doing well. I feel like I have accepted the fact Cam's cancer will affect me for the rest of my life. We had good news yesterday but there will always be the next scan or the next test results that leave me no option but to wait with peace. Anxiety hurts your heart and I don't need it. Surely our faith has to live through this situation and make a difference. I've always feared losing a family member in a sudden and instant death. I'm so grateful for life and time and health and good results and more time and hopefully a long time of togetherness.

The cafe is a good place to be for me. Know lots of people and starting to crank up community dinners and other stuff. It all just happens at my pace so it's sustainable and not overwhelming for anyone. We don't want to smother people but we also want people to know they are welcome wherever we are.

Michael's not so much enjoying his job. He's going back to study next year to keep his MBA in process. He'll just do 1 unit each semester. He's so tops.

Looking forward to AFL grand final tomorrow. We'll be cheering for Geelong in alliance with Marcus.

We are off to Tasmania for a holiday in a few weeks. Neither of us have been there before so it'll be brill. More on that later.

Now that our new computer is (nearly) set up entirely, we should be more frequent on the blog. But, you never know!

Making it home

We are getting more and more settled into our 'new' digs. Art on the walls is a good indication of that. $100 sofas from Vinnies also make me very happy. It's a great place to live and we've tested it with large groups of people, numerous times, over the last few months. A few 10 course degustations and birthdays etc. We love it.

Making it home.

My most recent ebay purchase. It's an old bus roll from a Perth bus. I've got a story about every suburb there. It's about 6 metres long but I just showed the important suburbs.

Before

This is the fence that Michael built. What a handyman! He's done a brill job at this challenge. It's all built with drainage systems and everything! I'm so proud.

Cherry blossom

Had to take a picture of this flowering cherry blossom - one of our feature trees given to us by our parents for Christmas last year.

After

Turf laid. A few rolls short but better than mud. Our friends Mike and Kate very generously blitzed the backyard with us all day, as did Michael's dad. Now we have a back yard.

Way back

Way back in May John secretly flew Carms to Sydney to spend the weekend on a houseboat up the Hawkesbury River. It was so brill. We had a great weekend of games, drinks, fishing, sleeping, etc.

Lovers in love.

Libs

Not a great picture of Libsy but she's the champion of all. Her life, alongside Cam's, has been through some very deep waters over the past few months. What a girl.

Bruver

This is a really bad picture of Cameron in the new Harris & Son HQ in the Bon Marche arcade in Perth city. The generation of Silversmiths hit #4 with Cam buying back the business dad sold 10 years ago.

Wrestlin' Wes'side

Michael is famous for wrestling any niece or nephews. This is Poppy and Wilson at Phil & Ollie's place for brunch.

200 of these suckers!

I made 200 of these cupcakes for a wedding. Yumbo. Michael jokes that I had to make 300 just to get the 200 best ones...and he's not far wrong.

Eat cake!

Here's a bit of art I did lately. A cake for some friends' wedding.
