How's this?

Overnight our Gloria Jean's cafe was broken into. Not in the traditional way. The baddies broke into the basement, stole a drill and drilled two rows of holes in our floor from underneath the floor. They obviously punched out the floorboards out and instanted created a man hole into our dining room. The weirdest thing was that they didn't touch or take anything in all of Gloria's or Video Ezy? Posted by Picasa

Turning 35!!

As you would all be aware, my birthday was on the 19th May. It was planned to be a normal day in the history of Fridays at Gloria Jean's....but...the night before changed everything. My buddy and co-manager Amanda came around in the evening on Thursday night. She handed me 4 envelopes with cards inside.

Envelope 1 read: "No one should have to go to work on their birthday so you are having the day off". At this point I was so excited I started to cry.

Envelope 2 read: "No one should spend their birthday on their own so Michael is taking the day off too". More crying.

Envelope 3 read: "At 11am you and M are booked into a day spa to have a Pamper Session". Mascara spreading over cheeks.

Envelope 4 read: "At 12.30 there is a table booked for you at the Swell Bar on Bronte Beach". I have never been so happy.

It was SUCH a nice day to spend unhurried time with the boy and be absolutely treated beyond my imagination.

She also slipped in a $10 note and set me on an op shop challenge - how many items for this amount?

M and I had a great day, finished off by dinner with Rob Cain and then starting all over again the next morning when Michael turned 37.

Thanks Amanda and Greig. You are beautiful people with an ability to love people in their language! Blessed am I.

Pamper away!

I started by sipping Chamomile and Peppermint tea (oh! how very tranquil) before I was treated to a hot rocks massage for 75 minutes. Divine. My benchmark for massages just increased 100 fold. Posted by Picasa

Pamper session MB style

In the end we couldn't squeeze two sessions in so MB had his own version on the verandah - Cappuccino and the paper. He's very cheap to run. Posted by Picasa

And then...

...Amanda booked a table for us at a beautiful restaurant on Bronte Beach. We both had lamb and it was delicious. The sun was warm but not hot and the phone calls did not stop coming from all over the world. It was absolutely delightful. Posted by Picasa

Nice work Michael. He took this pic at Bronte beach pool. I love it. Posted by Picasa

The bag!

Here is our friend Rob Cain. He slept over on Friday night while he was in Sydney for meetings. We had a great meal at a Thai restaurant the night before. His shout...mmm, even yummier. More importantly, I think you'll spot my new birthday bag somewhere in the shot. Posted by Picasa

Spectacular

The Harbour Bridge from another angle. I love it. Very close to where my loverboy proposed. Sigh! I'm in love. Posted by Picasa

Here he is!

My most gorgeous husband who makes every day better and better. He's so wonderful and this day (on his 37th birthday) he was looking particularly spunkratish. Posted by Picasa

I know, I know

Large amounts of negligence to this blog recently. Don't chatise me for it. I'm just a poor girl trying to run a cafe. All is well...and getting better by the day. Usually the hours are long and if someone doesn't turn up for their shift the day is longer. My personal favourite was the 18 hour shift last Friday. And you wonder why I haven't blogged. We already have hard-core regulars who love spending time with us. Of particular note is Dave who I named a drink after - the Davoccino. He drinks coffee with whipped cream and marshmallows. He was in 3 times last Friday along with a buch of other addicts who did some major caffeine intake during the day.

We are just hanging on to the fact that in 2 weekends time there will be a weekend away - out of Sydney. I've never worked so hard in my life and M's work has had its own issues of late. We want to break free. I've organised a secret weekend activity so all will be revealed.

Blogging has lost some priority status over the last few months. Sorry about that. I will be back when the routine becomes more manageable.

Love youse all.
